The mission of Springboard - Educating the Future is to encourage innovative partnerships to increase education opportunities for disadvantaged children.
Springboard - Educating the Future is an American non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors. Its current initiative, One-Room Schools for Egypt's Girls, seeks private contributions to build more schools to support the Girls' Education Initiative of Egypt's National Council for Childhood and Motherhood.
Springboard was established in 2004 to fulfill the vision of Raymond Plank, chairman and founder of Apache Corporation, to provide educational opportunities to underserved populations as part of his larger commitment to education as the essential first step up the social and economic ladder. Springboard is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
The initial contributor was Apache Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production company and one of the largest American investors in Egypt. Apache's participation in the first school at Abu Sir included financial underwriting, commissioning of the innovative replicable architectural design, and project management expertise.
Springboard works with:
- Governmental and non-governmental organizations,
- Generous individuals and corporations to provide supplemental financial and
- In-kind resources for construction and operation of school facilities.
Contributions to Springboard are deductible for U.S. taxpayers under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. IRS tax# 14-1910049.
